Donald Miller’s Small Business Flight School

The 6-month program helping small business owners double their revenue

Research shows more than two thirds of small businesses fail within the first ten years.  Small Business Flight School was created to help you make sure yours isn’t one of them.

Eleven years ago, Donald Miller lost his entire life savings in a failed venture. Today, he owns a $17M business that he built from the ground up.  Through his bestselling books “Building a Storybrand,” “How To Grow Your Small Business” and more he has helps tens of thousands of others be successful too.

Small Business Flight School takes what he learned and puts it together to help you build a strong and growing business, too. This isn't a business philosophy course with theories that are hard to apply in the real world. It's a hands-on, 6-month program designed to help small business owners double their revenue with a growth system that works.

A 6-Step Plan

With this program, small business owners will be able to completely overhaul their business in about six months. Plus, you’ll have access to the members only Flight School community and Business Made Simple coaches to support you.  The content and community will continue to be available to you beyond the six months, as long as you maintain a Business Made Simple membership.

During the program, you will:

  • Create a plan to overhaul your entire business in six months.

  • Install a proven plan to 2x your revenue.

  • Get weekly insider access to Donald Miller and the Business Made Simple team.

  • Join a community of growth-minded business owners you can connect with, learn from, and partner with to share best practices.

Why is it called Flight School?

Toward the beginning of growing his own business, Donald Miller realized that the six parts a plane needs to fly safely are very similar to the six elements a business needs to run smoothly.  He uses that comparison to teach the six steps small businesses can take to professionalize their operations and grow their businesses.

How It Works

Each month, you’ll focus on a key area of your business and walk through the action steps you need to execute. It takes about 5 hours a week over a 6-month period to complete the Flight School training and action steps.

The 6 key areas of your business:

  1. The Cockpit:  Leadership

  2. The Right Engine:  Sales

  3. The Left Engine:  Marketing

  4. The Wings: Products

  5. The Body:  Overhead and Operations

  6. The Fuel Tanks:  Cash Flow

By the time you’re done with the program, each area of your business will be prepared to fire on all cylinders and you’ll have a growth plan that actually works.

If you’ve been looking for a proven plan you can implement in your business, you’ve found it. Stop guessing about what you need to do.  Instead spend the next 6 months to become a confident business owner with a healthy, growing business.

What Each Section Covers

Month 1: Leadership

You’ll start by creating a clear vision built around three economic priorities and making sure every role in the company is aligned around them.

Month 2: Marketing

Here you’ll clarify your marketing message and learn to invite your customers into a story where you show them how their problems can be solved by your company, products or services.

Month 3: Sales

In this section you’ll create a sales message built around the elements of the StoryBrand Framework. You’ll invite your customer to be the hero and show yourself as the guide with your company’s product or service as the solution to your customer’s problems.

Month 4: Products

First, you’ll learn a process to get clear about which products are most profitable and in demand and then to focus your efforts on those products.

Then, you’ll also learn a framework for creating a product brief to see if a new idea is worth pursuing and pick up ideas on how optimize products to maximize revenue without increasing workload.

Month 5: Overhead and Operations

In most businesses, the biggest expense is labor. Often, when companies are struggling, the first move is to reduce headcount.  Although sometimes this is necessary, Small Business Flight School teaches business owners a different method. Instead of immediately cutting positions, first you’ll be coached to make sure your teams and each individual role in the teams have clarity around a common financial goal.

You’ll learn five types of meetings you should hold to make sure you’re getting the most out of your most valuable asset – your people.  The combination of clear objectives and open, regular communication about progress will help everyone stay laser focused on reaching their goals.

Month 6: Cash Flow

Here you’ll learn a simple, easy way to manage money that will help ensure you’ll never run out of cash.  By setting up separate accounts for different aspects of your business, you’ll be able to easily keep tabs on the health of your business and know when to make adjustments.  This section alone can be a game changer.

Plus, There’s The Community

Studies have shown how powerful it can be to learn with a group.  Completion rates are higher, plus you have the chance for feedback, clarification and potential collaboration with like-minded people who are on a similar journey.

With Small Business Flight School you’ll be part of a members only community with access to coaches and peers as you go.  Plus, you’ll retain access to the group as long as you maintain your membership in Business Made Simple.

Why Small Business Flight School Works

What sets Small Business Flight School apart from other business training programs is its focus on action. Rather than just learning theory or strategies, it’s all about taking action and implementing what you’ve learned in your business. This means you’ll be making progress and seeing results from day one.

Who is it for?

Small Business Flight School is designed for entrepreneurs and small business owners who are serious about growing and scaling their businesses. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to scale, the six steps taught in Small Business Flight School can help you take your business to the next level now and in the future.  If you’ve been struggling to grow your business, or you’re not sure what steps to take next, Small Business Flight School can provide you with the guidance, support and actionable steps you need to succeed.

Many Companies Don’t Have A Plan

The reason most small businesses fail is because they don’t have a cohesive operating system to help them know where they need to be putting their efforts and energy.

Everyday you’re piecing together how to:

●      Be an effective and respected leader for your team

●      Communicate clearly to customers about how you can help them

●      Increase your sales without running yourself or your sales team ragged

●      Know when and how to launch new products

●      Not overspend on your overhead and operations expenses

●      Manage your cash flow in a way that makes sense to you and isn’t confusing

If you’re like many business owners, you may have tried listening to podcasts, joining masterminds, networking each month, attending retreats, then trying to incorporate all of your favorite business sound bites into a cohesive strategy.

Donald Miller’s Small Business Flight School brings the plan together in one place, lays out action steps in each area and gives you a community of coaches and peers for support.   You’ll start clarifying the most important actions in your business from day one.
